Choose from six categories, each with project choices:
- Cake Decorating (All ages)
- Painting (All ages)
- Sewing (Ages 8 and up)
- Wood Projects (Adults only)
- Seasonal Décor (Ages 8 and up)
For your group, you will be provided with all materials and instruction to complete a project in one three-hour session. Feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages to sustain you while you bond with old friends and new in the course of creating beautiful things for your home.

CAKE DECORATING
Cake- Learn: Baking tips, cake leveling, crumb coating, smooth finishing, basic piping techniques. Take home a finished cake.
Cupcakes- Learn: Color mixing, piping techniques, six different types of cupcake designs. Take home recipes and 12 completed cupcakes. Cake decorating kits are available for purchase as well.
PAINTING
Kids Simple Acrylic Painting-Choose from a selection of subjects. Learn: Transfer technique, color mixing, and paint brush skills. Take home a completed work of art.
Adults Impressionistic Acrylic Painting- Choose from a selection of subjects. Learn: Transfer technique, color mixing, paint brush skills, and shading. Take home a completed painting.
Wooden Signs- Choose from a selection of messages and motifs. Learn: Sanding, staining, distressing, stenciling, and dry brushing. Take home a completed sign.
Wooden Barn Quilts- Choose from a selection of sizes, patterns, and colors. Learn: Masking, hard-edge painting, and how to attach hanging hardware. Take home a stunning piece that will be framed and ready to hang.
SEWING
(Students must provide sewing machines)
Embellished Throw Pillows- Choose from a selection of subjects. Learn: to sew on a button, basic hand stitching, applique, simple embroidery, envelope cover technique. Go home with a finished throw pillow.
Patchwork Table Runners- Choose from a variety of fabrics. Learn: straight machine sewing, pressing, backing, and trimming. Go home with a completed table runner.
Pillow Cases- Choose from a variety of fabrics. Learn: straight machine sewing, embellishment, and pressing. Go home with a finished pillowcase.
Aprons- Choose from a variety of fabrics. Learn: machine sewing, hemming, embellishment, and pressing. Go home with a finished one-of-a kind apron.
SEASONAL DÉCOR
Burlap Wreaths-Learn: Burlap wreath-making technique, how to make embellishments from ordinary objects, how to make designer bows. Go home with a completed seasonal wreath, ready to hang.
Outdoor Painted Wood Décor- Using pressure treated materials, make painted décor for any season, from Easter Egg Topiaries to Santa’s and Nutcrackers. Learn: Painting techniques and color mixing.
WOODWORKING
Centerpieces- Learn: How to use a drill press, miter saw, and nail gun to make these unique and versatile pieces.
Bookshelves-Learn: Basic construction techniques and how to use a miter saw and nail gun to build small bookshelves.
Boxes- These toolboxes are on trend and amazingly versatile for use in any space. Learn: To use a miter saw, drill press, nail gun, and sander. In addition, learn to stain and/or paint.
Picture Frames-Repurposed and scrap wood is the medium of choice for this project. Learn: How to use a nail gun and jigsaw and to cut mats and attach hanging hardware.
Trays-Learn: Basic assembly and how to use a miter saw and nail gun. In addition, learn to finish the trays by staining and stenciling.
NOTE ABOUT CLASS SIZES AND LOCATIONS:
Small Groups:
The Chics With Tools Makery is located in a private residence. Therefore, due to county regulations, classes may not exceed five people.
However, painting and seasonal décor classes may be held at The Funky Shack Mercantile in Tyrone, Georgia for up to eight participants.
Large Groups:
If a group has more than eight people, clients may secure an alternative location, such as a neighborhood activity room, church, barn, or garage to meet and create. Workshops for these locations include Cake Decorating, Painting, or Seasonal Décor. A single charge of $25 will be added for local travel in Coweta and Fayette Counties. Longer distances may be negotiated.
Reservations and Deposits:
All Chics With Tools Workshops require a good deal of preparation. Therefore, it is necessary to schedule them at least one month in advance with a signed contract.
